Source : The Economic Times Date : 29 Aug 2012
The government is mulling the delisting of low-production commodities such as guar seed, guar gum, mentha oil and cardamom from futures trading. Forward Markets Commission (FMC), thecommodities market regulator, has said it is considering the proposal to curb speculative trading. "It is being examined by the commission whether futures trading in narrow commodities like guar seed, guar gum, cardamom and mentha oil should be allowed....," the report, submitted to the consumer affairs ministry, said. The report said it is easier to manipulate futures and physical market prices in such commodities due to low production but huge trade volume .
